Financial Assistance

As you want the best for your young child, choosing quality childcare is important for families.  The Child Care Council of the Finger Lakes is here to assist families manage the high costs of child care. 

The Child Care Council has funding available through its Child Care Subsidy Financial Aid Program. This program is available through generous funding made possible by the United Way of Cayuga County, the City of Auburn and the United Way of Seneca County.

The Child Care Subsidy Financial Aid Program through the Child Care Council assists low to moderate working or full-time returning to school families who are having difficulty meeting the cost of day care.  Families may be entitled to a refund on both Federal and State taxes by claiming additional credits through Federal and State Earned Income Tax Credit, Child and Dependent Care Credit or Child Tax Credit.

To apply for this program parents are requested to fill out an application and meet eligibility standards. 

  • Parents must be a resident in either Cayuga County or Seneca County.
  • Parents must be employed and working for 30 or more hours per week or be a  
    full-time returning to school parent.
  • Parents must verify their household income and/or college schedule.
  • Parents must use a licensed registered day care provider or licensed registered
    child care center.
  • Parent’s gross annual income falls within income guidelines.
  • Parents must maintain and be current with their portion of child care fees.

Financial assistance is for full-time day care only.  Additional financial aid assistance is available for before and after school children and school-age children who are out of school during the summer months. The parent portion of child care fees must be kept current or financial assistance will be withdrawn.

If your family’s income is less than the eligible minimum income for child care subsidy financial aid, you might be eligible for County Child Care Subsidy Assistance.  To apply, please contact the Cayuga County Health and Human Services if you live in Cayuga County or the Seneca County Division of Human Services is you live in Seneca County.
